A robbery of Opium in Victoria Harbour by armed men dressed in the Hopper uniform, claiming to belong to a Custom's Cruiser: They were convicted as robbers & sentenced to penal servitude, not having been claimed as their officers by the Mandarin in Command of the Cruiser.
The C.J. in his first report makes it clear that it was his duty as Judge to ignore the claim that they were acting under Orders if it had not been vouched by the Mandarin that they were so acting.
