The betting odds still said Maxie Baor was the 6-5 favourite to beat Young Lou Nova when they tangle at Yankee Stadium on June 1. But Jim Braddock, the. "Cinderella Man" sat there toasting his tootsies before the fireplace and saying, "Nova will beat Baer, and probably knock him out."

London, May 31. Arthur Locke, the South Afrlean Open golf champion, led Reginald Whitcombe, the British Open champ- Jon, by two holes at the end of the 36th hole in their £500 aside golf challenge.
The match is being played at Coombe Hill over 72 holes, split into two sessions of 38 holes to-day and 30 to-morrow.
Locke's first 10 holes, when he led by a hole, took 70 and Whitcombe had 72. Par for the course is 75.
