being in force. By Ordinance 3 of 1854

(passed 18th October 1854) the 14th and 15th Victoria, cap. 19 was

amongst

other acts of Parliament introduced so

far as they were applicable to this Colony and ordained to be in force from

and after the 1st day of October 1857.

There has been no general relaxation or repeal of these English Acts, but by Ordinance No 4 of 1856

(passed 5th March 1856) they have relaxed in so

far as they related to wills made by Chinese, in order to give validity to such wills if made

or acknowledged and authenticated

according

to Chinese laws or usage.
