Cape d'Aquilar
31st October 1877.
Archibald Baird - Swork. I am in Charge of the Light House at Cape d'Aquilar - On Sunday the 20th at about 5 P.M. I returned to the Light House, having been along the time to see that the Telegraph wires were clear. I had given Mr Collaco the Assistant leave to go to Songshing. When about 50 yards from the Light House I heard a shot that fired. My impression was that one of the men at the light house had fired at a bird. As I walked along one of my coolies was with me and said "H ... treachery ..."
