I arrived at Hong Kong Bay from the a Chung at 8PM on the 28th and left again at 7 of the day. The Harbor Office was closed so that I could not report. I give the reason for not obtaining clearance. I went out by the westward as the Passenger told me to do.
I anchored at Aberdeen at 2 A.M. on the 29th. I anchored there because it rained and there was a head wind. I then went to the eastward towards Cape d'Aguilar. After I had passed Stanley and was getting near Cape d'Aguilar, I saw a Mandarin boat (about 120 peculs) in chase. This was about 4 o'clock P.M. I had no clock.
There were about 30 men dressed in red jackets and some in common jackets in the Mandarin boat. They were armed and forced their way to the Bay at Cape d'Aguilar, leaving everything behind when they reached the shore. I then went to the Lighthouse. I saw a European boat. Some of the Mandarin crew chased down after I landed. They retired when they saw that the messenger, my crew, and I had reached the Lighthouse.
The Mandarin boat then took my boat and everything that was made for the Customs Station to tow. I could not see clearly as it was getting dark. The European gave a letter to bring to...
