I attach papers to show the quantity of Opium which was in the boat 77¼ balls according to her Kum-tei's statement.

The launch is out on duty to-day & goes on duty to-morrow. I will go to Cape d'Aguilar and obtain the depositions of the Europeans stationed there.

In the meanwhile I attach copy of the Telegram received this morning from Mr Baird in Charge at Cape d'Aguilar.

I forward this preliminary report that no delay may take place in whatever action His Excellency may deem it expedient to adopt.
