INTERESTING PROGRAMME FOR THIRD EXTRA MEET

FIRST CLASSIC RACE ARRANGED SINCE CARNIVAL

ST. GEORGE'S PLATE DRAWS GOOD FIELD

(By "Capt. Foster")

St. George's Plate, the first classic handicap of the season since the Annual Carnival, and eight other events, feature the programme of the Third Extra Race Meeting of the Hongkong Jockey Club to be held to-morrow at Happy Valley. The first saddling bell will be rung at 1.30 p.m.

For This Race

Discovery Bay Rob Roy Fancied To Concede A Heavy Weight

The curtain raiser will be the St. Kilda Handicap for "C" class Aus trällan ponies over a short trip of six furlongs and it looks that we shall see a good mying in the opening chorus owing to the fact that any thing may happen. A comparison of the weights of these who ran in the Cabramatta Handicap (over a mile 171 yards) and what they are set to carry in this event will undoubtedly prove interesting:

A good race should be seen in the Canton Handleap (first section) for "" class China ponies over a dis- tunce from the two mlie post, once round and in. It will be recalled that in the Hongliam Bay Handicap run at the Easter (first section) session Rob Roy lost the race to Moonlight View by short head

It will be seen that for a beating of a length, the winner, Discovery Buy, has been naked to concedo 7 lbs. to A Great Time while Macquarie River, who finished behind the latter by a short head, has a-pull of 8 lbs. The form book shows that A Great Time and Macquarie River have fuster legs in a sprint than over a distance run and in the clrcumstance Discovery Bay has a stiff proposi- tion.
