Government will be good enough to coin in England for use in China dollars equal in fineness and weight with the Mexican dollar. I have the honour to enclose a copy of a further communication which I have received upon the subject from the Worshipful W. Keswick, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce endorsing on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce the proposals of the Banks.

I caused a reply to be written to Mr. Keswick to the effect that I would recommend the scheme proposed by such competent authority to the early consideration of Her Majesty's Government.

I have the honour to be, My Lord, Your Lordship's most obedient humble servant,

[Signature]

Governor
