ALTHOUGH Raymond Smart, of Chippenham, Wilt shire, has spent over seven years of his short life in hospital, nobody has been to see him except his family- and they could afford to do so only once a year.

But recently on the eve of his twelfth birthday, he held court with flowers, gifts, two cakes, and 15 guests at Westminster Hos- pital, where doctors and nurses are working night and day to save his right leg.
