RUMJAHN COUSINS ENTER SEMI-FINAL OF DOUBLES
COLONY TENNIS
CHAMPIONSHIP RESUMES WITH
FOUR
GOOD TIES
(By. "Abe")
Hold up for several days by rain last week, the Colony Tennis Championships resumed on the Hongkong C.C. courts yesterday with a programme of singles and doubles matches. The stand court- was utilised for the first time in the curront tournament, the match choson for the opening being the quarter-final doubles tic between the Rumjahn cousins and two club-mates, I. M. A. Razack and A. R. Minu,
All four playern being from the Indian R.C., the match naturally lost bit of its interest. Nevertheless rome good play was reen, with each i pule lining in turn. While RUS- talned rallies were few and far be- tween, there were Forc snoppy volleying duets, which were the chle? feature of the rantch. Hard hitting also made the match entertaining to watch.
The cousins, as expected, won but not before their opponents had given a fairly good count of themselves, Had they not made as uny mis- takes us they did, Razack and Mints would have put up a much better fight but a great weakness of theirs was to win a splendid rally only to lore the next point by a lamentable mistake.
Though they scored winners o many occasions with crisp volleys, the BumJahng were not as reliable off the round as usunt; yet their enable Kame was sound enough to them to win by 6-4, 7-5.
In each set, the winners led by 5-2.
OTHER MATCHES
What was expected to be the best singles encounter of the day, between Ho Ka-lou and W. C. Hung, was not played, the Intter conceding a walk- over to his erstwhile doubles part-
