SOUTH CHINA "A" GET

IN THE LEAGUE

Pick Up Two Valuable Points From Saints

(By "Abe")

As the result of their victory over St. Joseph's at Caroline Hill yesterday, South China "A" are now only one point behind the Royal Navy in the First Division of the Hongkong Football League with a match in hand.. The two points which they collected yesterday were, therefore, extremely valuable ones; for if they beat

Kowloon on Saturday, they will be able to start their final match against the Navy needing only a draw to win the League Championship.

There was never any doubt regard- Ing the final result of yesterday's ane, the score of 5-1 in no way exaggerating the superiority of the Chinese, who led by 3-0 at half-time, Because of the one-sidedness of the exchanges, Bttle interest existed.

Though at times the defence play ed exceedingly well, the splendid cohesion of the Chinese forwards and half-backs was always on top of the Saints team and only erratic shoot Ing on the part of the Chinese for wards prevented them from piling up a heavier score.

The two St. Joseph's backs, Afargnes and Souza, and the halves, Castillo, Leonard and Elms, played well, but they were up against a forward line which was too fast and whose combination proved much too good.
