ATS are in flower in Faris in anticipation of the carly spring sunshine. Lovely pastel blossoms are arranged on dark coloured millinery, which is usually black or of a deep fuchsia shade.

I noticed a pretty model composed of pale pink anemones heaped up on a flat plate-shaped model, grand for the girl who is not going to have a white wedding, while the round-faced, curly- haired blonde would look lovely in a version of a Welsh witch's hat, tying under the chin, with velvet ribbon and decked with two lovely popples in palest cyclamen.

These flower hats are so young-looking that they will take years off one's looks. Pastel tints are the news for spring, but they are always used in conjunction with 'deep colours to enhance the delicacy of their hues.

By themselves, they are apt to look washed out, unless the wearer Is perfectly made up, but with deep-toned soild colours they give not only a fresh touch to an outfit, but enable both girls and matrons to wear them becomingly.

Among the flowers being used are white lac, looking distinctly bridal, narcissi, hydrangea blooms in palest blue or pink, lotus lliles. and many other spring flowers which play their part becomingly in this new fashion.

Our artist has sketched two of the most exciting models we saw. Agnes is responsible for the hat composed of parma violets. sur- rounded by a mesh net. That little piece of vell is especially kind if you have any wrinkles on your forehend, or have had a tiring day.

But, of course, every costume will not stand for a too flowery hat. and for the woman who has to take a practical view of hor ward- robe (and who doesn't nowadays?) designers have made some smart beret shapes and low-crowned hats.

The flowers are appliqued in felt or thin leather on the front of the hat, with their stems trailing across the crown to the back.

The sophisticated woman of from thirty to forty who spends most of her life in town will appreciate the practical application of this attractive fashion. The model pictured is in black with pastel pink tulips in fine kid, but it would look just as effective carried out in line with cyclamen flower heads.
