4. The Office of Acting Colonial
Treasurer will doubtless be
resumed by Mr. Smith upon his return to the Colony from his
absence in April next, and the
fact that I am permanently

of the
Legislative Council holding

the post of Superintendent of the Fire
Brigade I propose to resign.
My Salary will thereby be reduced to £800
per
annum.
5. The desire and object of
this appeal is that my Salary as 1st Police Magistrate be
increased to £1000 per
annum.
And
I may
hold any other Compatible
office without additional
remuneration.
6. As some precedent
in support of my views I
state that previously Mr.
the Chief Magistrate received
£1200 per
annum with
an official seat in the Legislative Council.
