ROSE ELECT

ELECT MAY BEAT SILKYLIGHT IN CHAMPIONS

MR. EU'S PONY IS FAVOURED BY MANY EXPERTS

Main race to-day, of course, is the Champion Stakes, which will be run at 4 p.m. Entries at the moment are not yot known, but it is almost certain that the three best ponios in local racing, Rose Elect, Silkylight and Desert Chief will be starting.

it as

it will probably bo agreed that the race is between Rose Elect, the Derby winner, and Silkylight, last year's winner of the Derby and Champions, Rose Elect's easy win over Navy- light in the Derby on Monday, slatos

one-worthy

of following the footsteps of those many, ne poales which, in the past, have won both the Derby and the Champlons in the. aume your. Will she be able to do It In the face of Silkylight's challenge?

Silkylight won the Pelting Plate yesterday in rather slow time against King's

and Wild Life, but she Warden had little to spare in the end. King's Warden made a strong challenge, but the lead established by Pote-Hunt, on Silkylight, proved aufflelent for his pony to win without having to go all out in the last 100 yards.

DOUBT DISPELLED

Before the Derby event, the only doubt regarding Hose Fleet's ability was whether she could stay the dis- tams of a mile and a half. This doubt the dispelled with no unerr- tainty, and not only won the race with case but broke Liberty Bay's record for, the distance. To-day the Champion distance is a quarter of a mile shorter, and there is no doubt, therefore, of Rose leel's ability to Jast it out.

Mr. C. Encarnacho should pilot Rose Elect

main to a win in the event to-day,

be

It Desert Chief starts, she will also menace to Rose Elect und Silky-

Light.

"The Ladies Purse will also be run to-day, the race being timed to start at 12.30 p.m. If Red Feather in sent out, it will have a great chance of carrying it off, otherwise the race may fall to Humdrum Eve ur Moon- light View.
