Harbor Department, Angling, 30th December 1896.

In confirmation of my letter of the 27th Instant and your reply thereto I shall be glad, if, on the Marine Surveyor who measured the "Ichang", you will inform me what alterations or additions have been made to the "Ichang" since that vessel was measured in England; and, if any alterations for cargo purposes have been made, what is their capacity for tonnage. As much delay will be avoided in the settlement of the true tonnage of the "Ichang" by giving every detail of calculation you have made I shall be obliged by your furnishing the moments in feet of the spaces included in the deductions I have figured.
