As an act of caution I have no objection to inform you the net tonnage of the steamer "Krisshow" and "Mintiang" has been increased in consequence materially of the Surveyor who originally measured these ships, having omitted to insert in his report the tonnage of the spaces above the tonnage deck.
In order to meet any inference you may have formed to the River Steamer Ordinance coming into force, I think it well to inform you that the Ordinance is in force three days after it has been passed by the Legislative Council, and the Master of my steamer coming within the provisions of that Ordinance will tomorrow be liable to the penalties provided by Ordinance No 11 of 1876.
