Incident Which Led To Police Officer Shooting
The secidental shooting of a young Chinese girl, Liu Yu, 22, by Sergeant
N. T. Rogers at the Ma Tau Chung on February 7, when he was chasing a number of men, had a sequel at the Kowloon Magistracy on Saturday when Man Wn 20, mason, admitted a charge of common assault and re- ceived a sentence of three months' hard labour.
Inspector H. E. Rogers prosecuted and said that the complainant in the case, Au Ki 33, a blacksmith, was lengaged at the new refugee huts in Ma Tau Chung. A short while after 11 am. on February 7, defendant and a number of others, who had not been arrested, entered the hut and began to demand from Au why ho had nceused one of his friends of stealing. They then dragged him out into the reclamation about thirty yards away from the hut.
