Embezzlement Charge Against Clark
Charged with having fraudulently embezzled a letter, addressed to the from Chinese Ministry of Finance
the Cuba Chungwa General Associa- ton, and delivered by the Bank of China to the Ministry, Hsu Chlen, 48, clerk employed by the Ministry, op- peared before Mr. B. Edwards at the Central Magistracy yesterday.
Mr. M. K. Lo prosecuted on be- half of the Ministry, while Mr. Peter I. Sin represented Hsu. Detective- Inspector A. S. L. Hopkins was pre- sent for the police.
Hsu was orginally charged with fraudulent conversion of a draft for U.S. $8,204.02, the property of the Ministry.
The prosecution alleges that he received a letter which was nelmow- ledged in a chit-book, but was not in the incoming register.
Pak Mul-fong, a clance hostess, yesterday sald she lent IIsu $200 on the evening of January 1.
