Lord Comanor would be glad to know whether he would be willing to accept an extension of his leave without half pay and be prepared after he calls at the Bad to resume Government employment in Hong Kong.
A correspondence to that effect will be released on his undertaking to refund his salary. But he is under a guarantee to repay his salary for the period of his leave.
You have said that if we first release his salary, he will repay it. It should be without salary guarantee.
Sir J. Pope Hennessy has said that Lord Comanor will have to refund the salary for the period of his leave.
I think it would be glad if the Colonial Government would waive repayment in exceptional cases as in RM27/2.
