DARING ROBBERY ATTEMPT IN CITY Frustrated by Courage of Intended Victim

JAPANESE forces attempting to drive away the Chinese
guerillas operating along the Lunghai Railway cast of Hsuchow in north Kiangsu have encountered a severe blow,
The different Japanese columns engaged in the "mopping up" campaign have all been badly beaten by the Chinese. The column at Tsochiayu, east of Sutsien, suffered the most casualties.
Various villages in the vicinity including Tanochiamino, King- shochen and Yaowan, were re- captured by the Chinese between January 20 and 23.
The re-necupation of Yaowan, on the Grand Chual northwest of Sul- slen, followed
overwhelming Chinese victory over the enemy.
