Barcelona's Death
FRANCO'S Italian vanguard enters Barcelona and another Loyalist city is about to fall prey to foreign mercenaries.
To-day, the Insurgent holds all but Madrid of the great cities of Spain,
Granada, Seville, Cadiz, Sala- manca, Burgos, Saragossa, Toledo, Malaga, Valladolid, Bil- bao, San Sebastian and Oviedo kave successively fallen ter supérior weight.

Barcelona has been truly Loyalist since the outbreak of the Civil War. The insurrec- tion there on July 19, 1936, lasted only ten minutes and was crushed by overwhelming odds loyal to the Government.
Barcelona became Spain's capital. in October, 1936, when Madrid seemed likely to fall. Since then, the insurgents have bombed it with grim regularity. On most days, the city's two million people have calmly sought shelter in the 1,500 bomb-proof shelters that have been built to save them from death from the sky.
