For the time being the interpretation of the new charging rule has been left in abeyance. Referees are carrying on in the 112 Angwin, L. Germal. old sweet way, but I understand that the subject is still com- manding a lot of attention from the authorities.
Officials of the F.A. are not satisfied with the present way the charging law is working out. The Scottish F.A. gave instruc- tions in August that the law was to be interpreted in the strict sense and when asked the other day how it was working replied: "It has cleaned up play and stopped obstruction in the penalty
arca.
Realising that this is a step in the right direction, our F.A. intends to look further into the matter.. gather they look favourably on the idea of coming into line with Scotland, though there may be a little alteration in the wording of the law, the intention being to make it plain when and where charging is⠀⠀ permissible. I shall be very glad if they decide next season to limit charging to those players attempting to play the ball.
