T. Andrew's Ball, the most important social event of Hongkong's "season", and traditionally the biggest annual occasion for fraternising between Scotsmen and their friends, will be held to-night at the Peninsula Hotel, and promises to be as always, a brilliant function.

Although certain disappoititments have been experienced, in- cluding firstly the enforced postponement of the Ball from its original date owing to Court mourning, and secondly the un- avoidable absence of His Excellency the Governor, Sir Geoffrey Northcote and Lady Northrote, owing to the death of Lady Northcote's mother this week, the committee and its band of willing helpers have again excelled themselves in the arrange.
