My Govt remains confident that, after again considering the reasons I have laid before you in the present dispatch, the British Govt will not object to acquiesce in a proposal which, without interfering in any way with the rights of China, will strangly protect the interests we cannot remain indifferent to, and which are protected by the Govt of State for Foreign Affairs.
