LORD PRIVY SEAL OUTLINES SCHEME FOR HOME DEFENCE

New Type Of Training

For A.R.P. Wardens

SIR

LONDON, Dec. 6.

IR JOHN ANDERSON, opening a debate in the House of Commons to-day on voluntary service plans, disclosed that discussions on the lists of reserved

occupations with employers and representatives of workers

had already been initiated.

From January 1 there would be training with regard to incendiary bombs and high explosives, and 240 fully qualifed instructors per month would come from the schools and would be able to expand the training in localities.

Sir John Anderson announced that: the training of wardens was being reorganised to include instruction in incendiary bombs, elementary first- ald and exercises in the working of n communications system.

Special arrangements were being mude for the training of first-ald parties with the assistance of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, and the British Red Cross Society.

No difficulty was expected in the large areas about the training of firemen.

A beglaning had already been made in the setting up of an organisation necessary for recruiting. Nothing in the nature of a "whirlwind campaign" was thought necessary, having regard to the recruits already available.
