call the attention of Her Majesty's Government to the grave results which are likely to ensue from this action of the Colonial Authorities, and he requests to be informed of the decision at which Her Majesty's Government may arrive on the subject.
I am therefore to request that you will cause Lord Carnarvon to take this matter into his consideration and Lord Derby to be informed of what answer should be returned to General Menabrea.
