TWO ST. LEGER RACES ARRANGED FOR TO-MORROW
LOUIS XIV AND SMILING THRU NOT STARTING
AN EASY TASK AHEAD OF SALVAGE MASTER
(By "Captain Foster")
St. Leger is one of the five classics in England and every owner's great ambition is to annex one of the triple crown events owing to the huge stake-money and eventually the profits derived from the winner out of the stud fees. Racing in Hongkong is on a much smaller scale, but there has always been much interest manifcated in this endurance contest and to-morrow the Hongkong -Jockey Club will be staging two St. Legers-one confined to China ponies, subscription griffins of this season, and the other to Aus- tralian cobs.

The forthcoming visit of tho American girls' softball team which

While the idea of a trip through the Orient in itself appented to the 32 members of the feminine acre gation, the promoters of the tour had in mind primarily the building up of interest in the game which ha taken the entire Pacife Coast of the United States by storm.
