EORGE ANDREW SPROTT was only twenty-two when he first rolled up his shirt sleeves to serve customers behind the counter of a small grocery shop in Acton, W. His wages were less than £1 a week. His will, published recently, disclosed that he left £53,743.

He owned a chain of grocery stores. Ho gave 100 shares to rach shop manager with more than five years' service and, pointing his son James head of the firm, decreed that he must not dismiss Mr. Fred Hurrell Kersey, who is to be a life director.

That was because Mr. Kersey Joined George Sprott in. the shop in Finchley-road just when his struggle for success was beginning to bring results thirty-two years ago.
