Only Brown was capable of halt- ing the bowlers triumphant march and wickets tumbled so rapidly that Sutcliffe and Hutton faced a mere 48 runs
for victory. In the early

Brown continued to defend slub- bornly until the end, and had he found adequate support it is posable he would have succeeded in saving the match for his team..

Engineers Draw With
Kumaon Rifles
At Happy Valley yesterday the Engineers and the Kumaons played a drawn game, each side scoring twice, It was a well fought game with both sides playing fast vigorous foot- ball The Sappers had the best of matters territorially, but owing to the quick tackling of the Kumaon defence, and bad shooting on their own part, they failed to make the chances, and the most of their Kumaons snatched a deserved point.
The Kumaons played fast if noi clever football and lasted the pace
much better than did the Sappers.
Dhan Singh in goal made some bril- lant saves, while Tarr and Partap Singh

hardworking combination and gave nothing away. Ram Chand was the best of the halves. In the forward line Sher Singh was outstanding and scored two goals.
The Sappers were best served by Duddridge at centre half in the first half and when he changed over to Inside right in the second half. The forwards were on the whole wenk in shooting ability. The defence was adequate,
