Elects Mr. A. L. Shields As Council Representative
A general meeting of members of the Hongkong General Chamber of Commerce was held; the offices of the Charuber yesterday for the pur- pose of nomirilling a member for appointment No the Legislative Couneli více Mr. M. T. Johnson (resigned).
The Chairman of the Chamber (Mr. A. L.. Shields) presided.
The Aeling Sceretary, having, read the notice convening the meeting, the Chalonan sold Uint the election was necessitated by the resignation of Mr. M. T. Johnton who had in- tlanted that he would not be re- turning permanently to the Colony. On behalf of the General Commit- tee a letter had been addressed to Mr. Johnson thanking him services both as Chairman and the representative of the Chamber on the Legislative Council and he was sure this would have the approval of the members of the Chanber (applause).
