Mr. John Douglas, Londón father of seven, two years ago decided to fill in his football coupons by a code in which each letter of the alphabet represented 1, 2 or x (home win, away win, or draw).

Each week he evolved sentences containing fourteen fetters equalling the number of matches to be forecast-- and worked them out in code.

Mr. Douglas cannot recall the sentence that won him £12,000 because it represented only one of a number of lines that he submitted. But this sentence, invented for the pur- pose, will give you the idea:—
