The Eighth Extra Race Meeting, better known among the regular followers of the turf as the "Double Tenth Meeting," is a two-day affair with eight attractive events on the programme for each day. To-morrow the October Handicap, confined to Chinn ponies over the champion course, is the main event while on Mon. day the Double Tenth Plate for the same class, from the 11⁄2 mile post (about half mile 170 yards) will be the major contest. The first saddling bell on each day will be rung at 1.30 p.m. sharp.

I suppose one can assume that the absence of Liberty Bay and Diana Bay from the two principni events means that they have seen their best days and that they are now on the retired list. Skylight is going to evade Desert, Chief to-morrow, but he will enter the ring on Monday for the Double Tenth late. I am afraid I have to accept the news with a grain of suit as I have reason 10 believe that Silkylight will strip for the event. My fancy is Desert Chief who is well keyed and the chestnut stallion is looking extremely well. I may be wront, but it does not appear to me that Bear Claw is on the light fan- tastic foe, and his chance therefore is a matter of gamble. In a battle gainst Desert Chief in the Mirs Bay Handicap "A" class run on April 10, King's Warden, who was second, lost the fight by many lengths, but at The October Handleap, which is that time both tipped the scale al The curtain raiser will be the the first class after the recess for 164 lbs. wherena to-morrow Desert Austin Handicap (first section) for

YANKEES WIN SECOND GAME OF THE WORLD BASEBALL SERIES Late Recovery Gives Them 6-3 Victory Over Cubs
Chicago, Oct. 6.
Trailing one run behind in the eighth inning, the New York Yankees made a late recovery in the second game of the World Baseball Series against the Chicago Cubs to-day, finally winning by 6-3. They are now two games up on their opponents and need only two more to clinch the Series.

After this, Dean was taken off and was replaced on the mound by Larry French.
There was no further scoring, the Yankees winning by 0-3.
