The Eighth Extra Race Meeting, better known regular followers of the turf as the "Double Tenth Meeting," is a two-day affair with eight attractive events on the programme for each day. To-morrow the October Handicap, confined to Chine panies over the champion course, is the main event while on Mon- day the Double Tenth Plate for the same class, from the 11⁄2 mile post (about half mile 170 yards) will be the major contest. The first saddling bell on each day will be rung at 1.30 p.m. sharp.

From 1030 to 1830 the scramble over Ave furlongs, but last-year the sprint was shortened by nity yards and Oak Bay, who unex- pectedly turned the tables on Bear Claw, covered the distance in record time of 1.05.175. I am glad to s00 that Bear Claw and Oak Bay are among the list of entries and Mr. Eu

represented by Camer Tong-san onian and Desert Chief. The triple crown winner, Silkylight, is also in the contest and we may therefore look forward to a fine tussle.

I suppose one can assume that the absence of Liberty Bay and Diana Bay from the two principal events means that they have seen their best days and that they are now on the retired list. Neither Liberty Boy nor Diana Bay requires any fresh comment. In the case of the former, I think it will be dificult to find a pony with a better record in the an- nals of Hongkong racing. It was after a

of 24 successful sequence outings that Liberty Bay went under to Silkylight at the Inst Annual meeting, and his record of cups etc. is too numerous to enumerate,

In any case Tiny Star has been away from the course for a considerable length of time and it looks to me that this bay gelding from the Kong Bros. stable is short at a gallop. Estover, who is in the middle of the assessment will be ridden by A. W. Raymond and I certainly like the combination.
