Hongkong Hockey Players Beaten A Second Time During Tour In Malaya

Singapore, Sept. 28.

The Hongkong Garrison hockey team suffered their second defeat yesterday, at the hands of the SRC, who won 3-nil on the

S.R.C. padang.

The local team gave a good exhibition, combining well, defend- ing stoutly, and showing polish in every phase of their play.

The visitors after over a week off Though Rees' forwards continued strenuous play seemed off colour, their pressure, fullbacks Douglas, and and did not play as well as they did) Stickley had more success in stop- against the S.C.C., for Instance. ping the ball with the ground on They gave the impression of being their side more level than on the stale,

other side.

The Hongkong forwards also were given few opportunities by the home defence to shoot while their own fullbacks had a busy time stemming the speedy run-ups of the Rees for- wards.

TWO GOALS

Mureira played a great game for the home defence. Bain, who scored two goals, might have netted more with quicker shooting. Too enger, Ross and Sullivan, who played well, were penalised for going offside several times.

Holmes and Hamwell were among the hardest triers for the visitors but their forward combination falled to get results,

Though not impressive, the visi tors' defence effectively checked many raids, „Dobson's saving at gool was again spectacular.

Shortly after the bully-off Bain scored.

the ball.

Sullivan also had a narrow miss and Bain lost another chance when he failed to convert a fine pass from D. Ross.

Mr. G. Tersensolin and Sgt. Met- tan (R.E.) umpired. The teams

Pinging unselfishly, Valberg again created an opening for Bain who scored for the second time to give the Rees, a three-nil lead by inter- val.

SECOND HALF

The visitors tried hard to score on resumption and forced some corners, Itoss and Moreira cleared.

Holmes led the attacks but good

covering by the defence prevented them shooting. Hamwell skied the 'ball once wide off goal
