Legislative Council appointed to examine into the provisions of the Marriage Ordinance, and in their Report, which was adopted, they expressed a hope that should the Colonial Chaplain's anticipated loss be realised, the Government would favorably entertain his application for compensation.
Mr. Kidd now writes to say that his loss has been about £40 during the last year, and he proposes that the Government should pay him Five hundred Dollars down, as compensation for all past and prospective losses. I have the honor to be,
My Lord, Your Lordship's most obedient
humble servant,
Governor
