the Austrinn mans this evening to Luan negotiations,

Mr.

Oliver Stanley, President of the Board of Trade, Entd was impossible at present to make any announcement with regard to the nature of the action likely to be taken by Great Britain. Such action, he sld, must clearly depend upon circumstances.

The British Government stili hoped that negotiations would reach successful conclusion, but traders must recognise that there might be dimculties in obtaining payments after the end of June, and must therefore use discretion in necepiing any new commitments which might result in an accumultation of debts in Germany. The 2.30 n.m, raid was the heaviest, and a large number of planes came over the city, dropping their bombs on various localities.

It is significant that the ralders carried riding lights which could be seen quite plainly in the city, and their appearance occasioned outbursts uf rifle shots from all quarters in the faint hope that a stray shot, might

The other two raids were not so intensive and uppeared to consist only

of three or four planes on each occa- sion, bombs being dropped Inter- mittently on the outskirts of the elty.
