Father Admits: "I Am To Blame"

Plea For Daughter's Freedom

Made in Court

A BEDFORD father last month wrote a remark- able "confession" to the Home Secretary in which he admitted that he-and only he was to blame for the downfall of his 18-years-old daughter, who, at Chichester Quarter Sessions was sent to Borstal for three years.

He was Mr. A. J. Davies, a builder, father of Ivy Davies, a cinema usherette, who found guilty of stealing £10 from the manageress of a cinema cafe-idmitted that she had absconded from an approved school,

After she was sentenced she turned towards her father, who was in court, and cried:

"Let me out! Let me out! Daddy, daddy, what have you done to me? It in your fault. I was only 14 when you did this to me."

"She Is right. In my fault and I shall never forgive myself." Mr. Davies told in reporter That is why I have written to the Home Secre- tary. have told him that it to
