It is a genuine truth as observed
...that in 1860 there were few Steamers with mail contract vessel arriving and departing monthly, whilst new
postal centres in the Colony,
...one of the largest
...that in 1860 the advantage to the Colony of the Post-
master's residence at the Office was little appreciated that it was optional for him
to live there, whilst now the exigencies of the Public Service necessitate his being
on the spot by night as well as by day. The claim, therefore, made
by W. Juster to be relieved from the payment of rent
seems to be not unreasonable and I
beg to recommend his application to Your Lordship's favourable
consideration.
