At the monthly meeting of the Exe- cutive Committee of the Society for the Protection of Children, held at the Supreme Court on Monday, May 16. the report for the month of April was discussed, revealing much in- teresting data concerning the So-) ciety's work.

Mr. G. P. de Martin presided, the following members being present: Mr. A. Arculli, Mr. S. V. Boxer, Major Brazier, Hon. Mr. S. Caine, Hon. Str Shouson Chow, Mrs. D. J. S. Crozier, Mr. F. P. Franklin, Rev. Father Granell, Dr. Hunter, Mr. W. A. Jones, Mr. F. H. Kwok, Mr. J. M. Noronha, Lady Pollocks, Mr. A. Pol- lock, Mr. J. Prior, Miss Shin Tock- hing, Mr. L. D. Skinner, Mrs. Middle- ton Smith, Mrs. H. Sommers, Mr. D. R. Spreckley and Dr. Arthur Woo.

During the month under review, no; fewer than 611 cases were dealt with, the Society's inspectors making 223 visits to homes. At the various cen- tree maintained, 3,670 vialts were made by persons seeking advice, treatment or help for their children. The average income per head of the cuses on relief was $1.53 per month.

Hankow, May 10. The concentration of Japanese warships and military transports off the coast of Macao is confirmed by reports received here to-day.
