HERE is a plature in striking contrast to the high-speed
studies appearing on this pape recently.
The last of these was water-polo players taken at a speed of a two-thousandth part of a second.
Taking this vivid impression of an asbestos-clad man working at high speed in a shower of flying sparks was, photo- graphically speaking, a slow procèis. A fteenth part of a second was the caposure given, and the only light was that from the sparka.
The workman was piercing a cast-iron block 10 inches thick with an orp-acetylene tance. It took him five acconds.
