THIS "TELEGRAPH MAP shows the situation at Amoy, where Japanese Marines landed at 4 mm, on Tuesday, and are now fighting vigorously with the Chinese forces defending the city.
The University, on the eastern side of the Island, has been totally destroyed. Fifty thousand Chinese refugees from Amvy Island have entered the Foreign Settlement on Kulangsu Island.
Heavy Chinese reinforcements are continuously coming up by rall from Changchow and by road from other parts of Fuklen Province, but they are experiencing difficulty in crossing to Amoy owing to a heavy artillery barrage from Japanese warships,
The Japanese are operating from Kimoi Island, which they captured some time ago and converted into n navol and alr fored base,
