THE greatness of modern Hongkong owes much to the en- terprise and foresight of the Colony's first Governor- Sir Henry Pottinger.
HE was one of the most interesting as well as romantic person- alities who has ever been resident here, and his record of deeds accomplished for the future of the Colony is more re- markable when viewed in the light of the brevity of his sojourn in the Far East.
