The Japanese then went ashore and had proceeded about 200 yurda when somo Chinese guerilisa open- cd fire on thean. The Japanese were evidently under the impres- sion that someone aboard the Tang Wo had flred and went back to the ship and asked the Captain to gu aboard a Japaneso warship.
The Captain asked the Japanese in search the Tung Wo. This they did, after which they wanted to take away the Chief Engineer, who was a Brilon, and three members of the Chinese crew, The Capisin refused.
The Japanese then took the Tang We to Taungming Island and held her there for 24 hours.
