Mr. L. Owen, district magistrate, United Provinces, to-day issued a warning that any person found rioting or looting is liable to be shot.

It was stated in a local broadcast to-day that the Colonial Secretary, Mr. Ormsby-Gore, had appointed a commission to come here and to Nigeria to investigate the cocoa situation. There is at present a deadlock between producera and buyers, the producers alleging that the cocoa-buying pool is trying to obtain the cocoa at much below its real value.
