best site to be selected for the
Ofa building of new Government Central School, I have now the
honor to inform Your Lordship
the recommend that acting upon the recommendation of the Commission, I have purchased this property for fifty-two thousand dollars.
This sum of $52,000 is
made up by the vote of $5000
provided in the Estimates of
1876, and the remaining twenty-seven thousand dollars will
be placed on the Supplementary Estimates of the same
year.
With regard to the
expenditure which the building
of the new School will involve,
$10,000 and thirty thousand dollars have
been voted in the Estimates
of the year 1877. $20,000 standing
over for the year 1878.
Your Lordships will be glad to learn that the Colony will in all probability be
more than reimbursed for the
outlay on the purchase of the new site by the sale of the present Central School, for
an offer of $50,000 has
already been made.
I trust, therefore, that
Your Lordship will approve of the arrangements I have made.
