Swift Gains By Insurgents,

With the Insurgents at

Huesca, Mar. 22. The sudden and violent attack on the Huesca front to-day surprised the Loyalists and forced their retreat from the 4,000-foot peaks, from where their guns had previously threatened the Huesen buse.

It is nonounced that, for the first time since the civil war started, the Loyalists are not threatening Fluesca. Navarrese Brigades, attacking in the north, captured hundreds of Loyalist troops and selzed the towns af Sierra Arascues, Slerra Grazal, Meseta

and Lierta, and have Coron advanced ten miles.

Meanwhile Insurgent troops advanc ed for nine miles from Almudeyar And caught the Loyalists in a pocket. outside Huesca inte at night. Pres- sure has also been brought on Al- ierre, seven miles to the west alung the Jaca highway.

The objectives of the drive are to relleve pressure on Huesca, to drive In salient in the Loyalist lines and to force the withdrawal of the Loyal- ists under General Poza from the north bank of the Ebro River.- United Press.
