There were several changes in the team for England announced March 6, Nicholson, Prescott, Huskie son and Bolton, who were on the in- jured list, being replaced by Gran- mer (Mosley), H. F. Wheatley and A. Wheatley
and Brown (Coventry)
one (Exeter). There was only change in Scotland's team os pub- Hshed on March 7, Blackadder (West of Scotland) replacing Borthwick.
England won the toss and elected to play with the wind behind them. The Arst few moments of the game were packed with thrills, the pendu- Jum swinging with remarkable rupidity. Scotland broke away after surviving C. B. BROWN,
a number af rushes by England, and Renwick opened the scoring with a try which, however, was not converted. Ten seconds later, Scotland was penalised for feet- |
with a up and Parker equalised penalty goal.

COUNT THE LEGRAPH?
·
Following a 'period of forward play, in which England held the Unlance, Scotland was again penali- sed, from which Parker landed on- ather brilliant penalty goal from long range.
cx-
After 15 minutes of even changes, there was another orgy of scoring. Scotland heeled from the serum and weak tackling let in Ren- Wick for an unconverted try. Three minutes later, a glorious handling movement resuited in Dielt putting over an unconverted try, followed Immediately afterwards by a similar reore by Unwin.
Half-Time Score Shortly before the interval, Shaw burst through to herense Scotland's score with an unconverted try, after weak tacklers. At having evaded half time, Scolland was leading with 12 points to England's 9.
England's forwards stormed
the Scottish line on the resumption, Rey- nalda
valuable and Glies quining
with Parker helping with Fround
the tremendous kicks. However, deadly tackling of the Scottish backs held up the English attack, in which Cranmer was the weak link. Apart from Reynolds and Giles, there was no thrust outside the English scrum, which was speedy. Shaw, the Cap- tain was the most dangerous player on the Scottish side, his handling be ing magnificent.

Yankees Favoured Strongly For American Pennant
Miami Beach, Mar. 20, Mr. Jack Doyle, after scanning reports the latest training camp issued by the "Semi-Final", offered odds of one to two on the New York Yankees winning the American League baseball pennant during the 1938 season.
That the Yankers will win accord- ing to Mr. Doyle, is nearest to being a sure thing-in-nny club history. He minimizes the loss of Tony Lazzery to the outfit, saying that the Yankees' reserves até capable of supplying a replacement.
The Detroit Tiger. Clevelund In- dlans and the Chicago White Sox are all five-to-one contenders for the runners-up position.
In the National League, the New York Giants and the Chicago Cubs are three-to-two favourites for the pennant. The St. Louis Cardinnis and the Pitisburgh Pirates are 4-1 agalnst.
The Cordinois are the "dark-horse" in this League. Their chances de- pend upon "Dizzy" Dean's pitching arm. Referring to the Cardinals" mercurial pilcher. Mr. Doyle says,
