DRAMA OF TRANSPORTATION
OPS!
One of the most drámailo exhibits at the New York World's Fair next year wil be the history of transportation, from the time of the cave man through the ages pince, Moving pictures, coloured lights on a world map and sound effects will give an idea of comparH- tive speed. The display has been designed by Raymond Loewy, once a French army officer, who is known as a plenter among industrial dreamers. The exhibli will be in the Motor Transportation building, and will occupy 10,000 square feet of floor space. Increasing speed will be apparent throughout the exhibit, as scenes change frora camels to sailboats, to steam and eventually to modern transportation. As a climax, the rocket port of the future, shown in the drawing above, will spring into action. From the steamship docks, passengers will be whisked into a rocket car which, in a brilliant and explosive flash, will seem to travel up- ward to the illuminated planets in the ceiling.
Streamlined models of the future, which will be on display, are shown above. Top left, high-speed railway train; top right, elght-motored, bird-wing air liuery right centre, taxicab, with three-wheeled chassis; lower right, ocean liner, fully enclosed and sterm-proof; lower feft, tear-drop automobile, engine in rear.
Sir Roger Backhouse, recently ap pointed Lord Commissioner of the Britlah Admiralty and Chief of the Naval Sixx, according to an- nouncement by the British government. Sir Roger, who has been commander-in-chief of the Home Fleet, succeeds Admiral of the Fleet Lord Chatfeld. The appointment carries with it the post of First Sea Lord. Sir Roger is 50 years old.

HAPPENINGS AS SEEN BY THE CAMERA'S EYE
This is a view in Abdine Square, Cairo, as the Egyptian army paraded for King Faronk after his recent wedding to Farida Zulficar. The three-mile route between Koubbeh Palace, where the King resides, and Abdine Palace, where he reviewed the troops, was filled with cheering crowds. Note The spectators on roof of buliding in background.
