Recent appointments notified by the Admiralty include: Payr. Lts. C. K. T. Wheen to Enterprise (on commg.) and

to Bee (undated); J. S. Theobald to Enterprise (on commg.). and to Tamar (undated).

The appointments have just been made of Commanders R. F. Eiking and E. G. A. CHfford to the Cumber- land, flagship in China. The former will be fleet gunnery officer, in succession to Commander A. N. Grey;] and the latter fleet navigating officer. In succession to Commander K. M. L Robinson. Commander Elkins wDA promoted in June last when gunnery officer of the battle-cruiser Repulse in the Mediterranean, Commander Clifford recently completed two years In the Plans Division of the Naval Stoff.

Marriage Allowances To Be Increased

London, Mar. 11.

Following the announcement of the Increase in the marriage allow ance for soldiers, made by Mr. Hore- Belisha in the Commons yesterday, the Government has decided to make an increase in the case of nayat men and married nirmen.
