5. No such application was received however, and no acknowledgment of the offer made either by the Assistant Military Secretary or by the Senior Commissariat Officer, and it was consequently assumed that it was not intended to take advantage of the offer which this Government had made, and accordingly the Colonial Secretary, in order to ascertain what would be a reasonable rate at which to dispose of the Coins, on the 24th June issued a Government Notification in the Gazette in the terms of the notice, a copy of which is contained in the correspondence which Your Lordship has forwarded.

6. Eventually all the coins that could be spared were sold to the Hong Kong and Shanghae Bank at Exchange 44/33.
